A loud explosion was heard on the premises of the Mysuru court around 4.10pm on Monday, police are investigating.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred in a public toilet near the Mysuru City court premises. There are unconfirmed reports that people have been injured and taken to hospitals by bystanders.

The building of the toilet complex has been damaged. Glass is strewn about everywhere, and metal rods in the windows have been damaged.

The bomb squad and dog squads are at the site of blast, and have reportedly found two suspicious bags. Police have cordoned off the area and are not allowing people into the area.

Court proceedings have been suspended for the day.

Raghavendra, a lawyer who practices in the court, told The News Minute that there are no CCTV cameras in the area.

TV9 Kannada quoted a witness as saying that an Ambassador car which was parked about 15ft away. It is reportedly the DC’s car.

The explosion has occurred at a time when a number of the police force is deployed for the management and security of the last rites of the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Rakesh.

“The investigation is on to find out who did this. It was a small explosion, no one was fatally injured. It is possible that it was done as a tactic to threaten taking advantage of the gathering of thousands of people for CM’s son’s last rites,” Home Minister G Parameshwara.
