Co-founder of terrorist organization Indian Mujahideen and chief accused in the Dilsukhnagar twin blast case, Yasin Bhatkal on Monday alleged that his life is under threat from the police and the National Investigation Authority (NIA)Yasin who is currently in solitary confinement at the Cherlapally Central Jail in Hyderabad, appeared before the Rangareddy district court along with four other accused in the Dilsukhnagar blast case. They were produced before the court by the NIA.In a petition submitted to the Special NIA court (a copy of which is with TNM), Yasin says that he "apprehends a great threat to his life from the jail authorities as jail authorities have been working under the direct influence and control of the N.I.A"The Indian Mujahideen co-founder was recently in the news, after reports that he may try to escape. Many reports surfaced, claiming that Bhatkal told his wife over phone that he would be out soon with help from Damascus. The conversation, reportedly intercepted by intelligence agencies, triggered fears that he may get help from Islamic State (IS). The jail officials, however, claimed that the NIA did not share this information with them and confirmed that all his calls were recorded. Speaking to TNM, Yasin's lawyer Khalid Safiullah claimed that these allegations were baseless rumours. "All this has only increased his fear that the authorities are up to something. He is scared that they might shoot him in a fake encounter and no one will suspect it because already reports were going around that he was trying to escape," he says. Page 1 of petition The petition also requests for a 24x7 CCTV surveillance in his jail cell, so that there is footage to back his claim in case things go awry.  "We have also requested that his journey to and from court also be recorded as that is the time when there is the most threat to his life," Safiullah added.Yasin Bhatkal, who is one of India's most wanted men, was arrested near the Nepal border in Bihar’s Raxaul town in August 2013. He was wanted for the 2011 Delhi High Court blasts and several other strikes in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad.Originally hailing from Karnataka, 32-year-old Bhatkal was born Ahmed Siddibappa, and co-founded the Indian Mujahideen in 2008 with Riyaz Bhatkal and Abdul Subhan Qureshi.
