Offer to strike an alliance have been raining down on Janathipathya Samrakshana Samithy (JSS) ever since the party decided to contest alone in the upcoming assembly elections.
A Malayala Manorama report said that the NDA is keen on striking an alliance with JSS and offered all the support and cooperation that an ally would enjoy. According to their sources, BJP leaders are said to have expressed willingness to hold discussion with party head KR Gowri Amma regarding a possible alliance and even offered her the position of Governor.
However, differences between the two political parties have posed hindrance to any constructive discussion on the same. Gowri Amma is said to have declined the offer, standing by the party’s decision to contest alone in the upcoming assembly elections.
This is not the first time JSS is being approached for an alliance by another political party. In spite of Gowri Amma having turned down an offer to merge with CPM in the past, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan recently approached JSS for alliance. UDF is also said to have approached JSS seeking alliance.
Meanwhile, voices within the party are being raised asking Gowri Amma to reconsider the decision to contest alone. As pressure from the Left, Right and within her party is rising, Gowri Amma will have a tough time balancing the act.
