One line from the filmmaker Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, “Ennama Ippadi Panreengale” (Why ma, you are doing like this?) on a show SolvathellamUnmai went viral and since then, has been parodied by Vijay TV in different programmes. While she was accepting of the spoof initially, the actor has had enough and has now filed a complaint against the channel.
“Now, Vijay TV has put out a promo version 2 of Ennama Ippadi Paanreengale Ma! It shows that this swipe at me is likely to be featured in one of the segments of the programme Athu Ithu Yethu. I want this segment that features this satire to be stopped from being aired”, the filmmaker has told The New Indian Express.
The police complaint was lodged after a tiff between the filmmaker and the TV channel on Twitter. She said that the police commissioner S George has told her that he would hold talks with Vijay TV.
The spoof was based on the lines she frequently used on her reality show Solvathellan Unmai on Zee TV. Another show titled Athu Ithu Ethuwhich which airs on Vijay TV used the line repeatedly and has now announced that the second season will also have a spoof of that.
Lakshmy said that she was also considering filing a defamation suit against the channel if it goes ahead with the proposed satire in the second season of the show.
