Dhanush and filmmaker Gautham Menon have joined hands for the first time for the upcoming Tamil action thriller Enai Noki Paayum Thota, which has been on the floors for a very long time. After facing several setbacks over the course of the last two years, the film’s shoot was finally wrapped up last year in Mumbai. Recently the film went through the censor process and was awarded U/A certification. If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the theatrical rights of the film have now been acquired by Ishari Ganesh’s Vels Film International, with the film gearing up for a September release.
Vels Film International is currently basking in glory over its latest release Comali starring Jayam Ravi and Kajal Aggarwal. Recently the banner unveiled three more films that are getting ready for release – Sumo starring Mirchi Siva and Priya Anand and directed by Hosimin with celebrated cinematographer Rajiv Menon behind the lens; Seeru starring Jiiva and directed by Rathina Shiva of Rekka fame; and Puppy starring comedian Yogi Babu as the hero.
Enai Noki Paayum Thota stars Dhanush and Megha Akash in the lead with Sasikumar and Sunaina in pivotal roles. Baahubali star Rana Daggubati will be seen making a cameo appearance in the film. This project was supposed to mark Megha’s debut, but she already has a few projects to her credit.
Tipped to be a campus-based action drama, the film has music by Darbuka Siva whose identity was kept a secret for a long time. The makers promoted him as Mr X to create curiosity amongst fans. The idea paid off as the songs were extremely well received. There were rumours that AR Rahman was the composer after the phenomenal response to the first single of the album. For months, the makers dodged every speculation and maintained secrecy about the composer’s name.
Gautham Menon also has the Vikram starrer Dhruva Natchathiram which is also yet to see the light of the day. It is said we can expect the film’s progress to speed up soon after Enai Noki Paayum Thota’s release. Gautham Menon has completed shooting his web series on the late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa starring Ramya Krishnan. While further details about the project are kept under wraps for now, there are rumours that Viji Chandrasekar plays Sasikala in this project.
