Baahubali: the Conclusion hit the silver screens on April 28th and took a very grand opening as expected. The film is fast racing towards the Rs. 1000 crore club which will make it the first Indian film to get that prestigious honour.

Amidst all the hype surrounding Baahubali 2, Dulquer Salman’s Comrade in America made it to the theatres on May 5th. And, according to sources, CIA is holding on well to the screens despite the Baahubali storm. Made on a budget of around Rs. 250 crores, Baahubali 2 has been directed by SS Rajamouli and has Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tammannah, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan and others in the star cast. The film released in over 9000 screens across the globe in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.

On CIA, Dulquer had posted on his Facebook page: “At long last, here is the title for my first full length Amal Neerad film! Thank you Amal Etta for the opportunity and for letting me be a part of something so ambitious and grand. Hope you all love everything about the film.” He plays a Pala-based youngster with strong communist leanings.

Comrade in America marks the debut of Karthika Muralidharan as heroine with the star cast also including Priyanka P Nair, Chandini Sreedharan and Soubin Shahir. Shibin Francis has penned the script.

Ajmal Khalid has produced the film under the banner Amal Neerad Productions with Gopi Sunder scoring the music. CIA was released on Karl Marx’s birth anniversary.

When the poster of the film was released, showing Dulqur against the American flag, there were reports that it could be a political film. However, CIA is a action thriller with romance.
