Dulquer Salmaan sports a horseshoe moustache for ‘Kurup’

The actor will play the real life character of Sukumara Kurup, a fugitive who has been on the run for years.

Dulquer Salmaan is busy with his upcoming film Kurup, in which he plays the title role. It was reported some time ago that the actor will be sporting several get-ups as his role demands. Recently, one of the looks in Kurup was revealed online and we could see Dulquer with a horseshoe mustache and looking completely different from his usual self.

It has already been revealed that Dulquer plays the real life character of Sukumara Kurup and Indrajith will be seen as the cop investigating the crime. Shine Tom Chacko has been roped in to play the role Bhasi Pillai. Kurup also stars Sobhita Dhulipala and Sunny Wayne in pivotal roles. Srinath Rajendran is wielding the megaphone for this venture which is based on the life of the most elusive accused till date, Sukumara Kurup. The film is bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan’s production house, Wayfarer Films, and M Stars.

Kurup is scripted by Daniell Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind while Jithin K Jose has penned the story. Accused of murdering a film representative named Chacko, Sukumara Kurup had faked his own death. Sukumara Kurup’s plan was to murder Chacko and pass it off as his own death to claim a large amount of insurance. It was a sensational case; more so because the police could not arrest the main accused while co-accused driver Ponnappan and brother-in-law Bhaskar Pillai were sentenced to life-term imprisonment. It is one of the longest unsolved cases in Kerala till date. The filmmakers have done a lot of research before Kurup went on the floors.

Kurup is scheduled to hit the marquee next year and its release date is yet to be announced.

Dulquer’s production house is also producing four other films -- Maniyarayile Ashokan, director Anoop Sathyan’s multi-starrer film, Joy Mathew’s directorial, and a cop film by filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews.
