Mahi V Raghav had directed Malayalam mega star Mammootty in the YSR biopic titled Yatra. The film released on February 8 and had a decent run at the box office. And now, we hear that the director is gearing up to direct the mega star’s son and popular actor Dulquer Salmaan. Reports indicate that Mahi V Raghav had narrated a story to Dulquer and has got his approval. The director is now getting ready to develop the script, with the project most likely to take off later this year.

Dulquer Salmaan is not new to the Telugu film industry as he made his debut with the Savitri biopic Mahanati last year. He portrayed the Tamil star and Savitri’s husband Gemini Ganesan in the film and won accolades for his performance. Having built this strong base in Tollywood, he is all set to star in his next Telugu film under Mahi’s direction.

Dulquer is currently busy with a slew of films in different languages. He has the Malayalam movie Oru Yamandan Premakadha helmed by BC Boufal, who will be making his directorial debut, set for release. The film is in the last leg of shooting with its release planned in April this year. The film is written by Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan. Further, Dulquer has the Bollywood flick Zoya Factor needing his attention right now. The film is based on the novel of the same name penned by popular author Anuja Chauhan.

Dulquer also has the Tamil film Vaan, a travel-based script directed by RA Karthik, in his kitty apart from another Tamil project Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal. Besides that, he has signed two other Malayalam films. While the film on notorious criminal Sukumara Kurup, to be directed by Srinath Rajendran, is an important project for him, Dulquer has also signed a new film with director Mahesh Narayanan of Take Off fame.
