Dulquer Salmaan will reportedly be acting in a film to be directed by actor-writer-director Joy Mathew. It will be a political thriller, we hear and the shooting is most likely to commence in January next year. Dulquer’s home banner Wayfarer Films will be bankrolling this venture. Reports are that Joy Mathew has roped in a few of his technical crew and it includes Shameer Muhammed for editing and Renganath Ravee for sound designing.

While the buzz is that Dulquer will be seen as a politician in this film, all that the director revealed in an interview is that it will be a completely different role; something the star’s fans haven’t seen thus far.

Joy Mathew, a well-known actor in the Malayalam film industry, directed his first feature film Shutter in 2012, after being away from the industry for many years. Shutter went on to win several accolades. after premiering in India on December 9, 2012, at the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala. Joy Mathew had been the hero of late legendary director John Abraham’s film Amma Ariyan in 1986. After disappearing for several years to work in a Gulf country, Joy Mathew came back with Shutter, and has since been acting a lot. His next script came for Uncle, in which Mammootty played the male lead and Karthika Muraleedharan the young female lead.

He is now busy with the groundwork for his new project and in the meantime, Dulquer Salmaan will be completing Kurup, a film based on the life of Kerala’s most famous fugitive, Sukumara Kurup. Apart from Dulquer, Kurup also features Sobhita Dhulipala, Indrajith, Sunny Wayne, and Shine Tom Chacko. Srinath Rajendran is wielding the megaphone for this venture. Nimish Ravi has been roped in to crank the camera for Kurup with Sushin Shyam signed up to compose the music.
