“Should we kill men to protect cows?” asked Thamilchelvan, a youth wing secretary of Dravidar Kazhagam during a protest in Coimbatore on Thursday against the increasing “intolerance” and the Centre’s “silence” in the country.

They talked about the murders of writers M M Kalburgi and Govind Pansare, Dalit killings and lynching of Mohammed Akhlaq in Dadri Village after rumours of beef consumption spread.

M Chandrasekhar, party district secretary said that if the Centre does not take any action against such incidents then they will wear black shirts and take on that responsibility.

“Two writers have been killed, two Dalit children were burnt alive in Haryana and no arrests have been made. A foreigner was arrested for getting a tattoo of a deity done on his shin,” said Thamilchelvan to The Times of India.

He blamed the Centre for not taking any action against the accused in the murders and attacks.
