Bollywood movie 2 States was one of the biggest hits of 2014. This film is all set to be remade in Telugu and will have Adivi Sesh stepping into the shoes of Arjun Kapoor in the male lead role. Shivani has been signed on to essay Alia Bhatt’s role in the remake.

To be directed by Venkat Reddy, who will be making his debut, and produced by MLV Satyanarayana under the Lakshya Productions banner, the film will go on the floors in March. Incidentally, the director is an erstwhile associate of ace director VV Vinayak and has worked with him on several blockbusters.

It may be mentioned here that Naga Chaitanya and Samantha were initially in talks to play the lead pair in the remake, but the talks were not fruitful, and Adivi Sesh and Shivani have now bagged the roles.

Shivani, daughter of star couple Dr Rajasekhar and Jeevitha, will be making her debut in Tollywood with this flick. The debutant is an accomplished dancer proficient in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi and is well-versed in keyboard, veena and guitar, say sources. Earlier, speculations were rife that she was the frontrunner to play the female lead in director Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki 2.

The Bollywood movie 2 States, which was directed by Abhishek Varman, was based on a novel of the same name by Chetan Bhagat. The romantic drama released to positive reviews in 2014 and made good collections at the box office.

Sources say that the lead stars have signed on the dotted line and the filmmakers are in the process of roping in the supporting cast and the rest of the crew.

Adivi Sesh, a noted director and actor, made his debut in 2010 with Karma: Do You Believe? and has films like Baahubali: The Beginning, Dongaata, Kshanam, Oopiri / Thozha to his credit till date.
