Noticing that many young drivers were jumping out of moving vehicles to dance on the road, the Hyderabad Traffic Police has issued a notice, advising against the #Kikichallenge, which has taken social media across the world by storm.

The social media challenge began after Pop singer Drake’s song ‘In my feelings’ from the album Scorpion released last month, and involved people stepping out of their car and dancing alongside the moving vehicle.

“Jumping out of a moving car and dancing alongside it in the middle of the road, obviously multiplies the risks involved in it. These kinds of acts endanger the driver and others too. Further, such acts draw criminal charges. Any untoward incident may occur while performing such a perilous act on the road,” the Hyderabad Traffic Police said.

“Youth of Hyderabad are hereby requested to abstain from doing such acts on the roads. Dear youngsters, drive safe and stay safe. Accept worthy challenges in life because you are the future of the country. Anyone indulging in #Kikichallenge on the roads will be booked under Section 268 (Public nuisance) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under Section 70 (b) of the Hyderabad City Police Act for creating nuisance on the road and endangering the life of other commuters,” the police added in the statement.

As the challenge went viral in India as well, the local police in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru have already issued advisories against attempting to jump out of moving vehicles.

In other countries as well, the police have warned the public against doing the challenge after witnessing several people getting injured in freak accidents.

The brain behind this internet frenzy is comedian Shiggy Show, who posted a video of him dancing to the song on Instagram. The video went viral and several social media users have been attempting to show off their dancing skills through the challenge.
