The News Minute | January 2, 2015 | 9.07 pm ISTErnakulam district collector M.G Rajamanikyam has criticized authorities after he visited the Ernakulam medical college students’ hostel following the reports on mass food poisoning of students.The Collector lashed out at the officers and asked them that whether he himself should come to clean the hostel. He said that the hostel was in pathetic condition and even lacked basic necessities.“The situation here is pathetic. Do you want me to come and clean the hostel?” he asked the authorities in the presence of the media.He assured the students that he will take necessary steps to find funds for the hostel with the help of the hospital development authority.Earlier the district medical officers’ enquiry had revealed that the Medical college hostel mess area and other premises were intolerably unhygienic and unhealthy.33 medical students had been admitted to the hospital following the mass food poisoning at hostel for the last three days.
