Having come under vulgar attacks online and at her shoot in Tamil Nadu over the past couple of days for her supposed statements 'opposing Jallikattu', actor Trisha has hit back at those who took to creating vulgar memes and abusive posters about her. In a series of tweets, she also clarified that she had never made any statements opposing Jallikattu.

On Friday, the actor had been shooting in Sivagangai for her upcoming film Garjanai when angry protesters stormed the shoot, forcing Trisha to take refuge in her vanity van. 
 
They shouted slogans and threatened that they wouldn't allow her to shoot in Tamil Nadu till the time she apologised for her association with PETA, the animal rights organisation which is behind the ban on Jallikattu. 
 
In the online space, the actor has been subjected to a series of derogatory memes and posts because of the issue. 
 
Confirming that she was safe, thanks to police personnel, Trisha made it clear that she'd never spoken against Jallikattu so far. She thanked her friend, Silambarasan, a vocal supporter of the sport, for pointing this out in support of her.
 
Trisha also asked if disrespecting a woman was part of Tamil culture and said that those who'd used such language should be ashamed of themselves.
