Right from the time reports about the Prithviraj – Mohanlal project surfaced last year, fans have been waiting eagerly for more information on it. Lucifer was announced in September last year and it marks the directorial debut of Prithviraj. Mohanlal plays the lead role in the film, which will be scripted by Murali Gopy. Anthony Perumbavoor is bankrolling it under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

Earlier, the buzz was that Lucifer was a brainchild of late director Rajesh Pillai and Murali Gopy, but the project never took off. With both the stars busy with their own projects, movie buffs had to wait for news about this film. Nevertheless, the buzz around the film was kept alive with fans releasing their own versions of posters every now and then. Well, finally we have some information about the film with Mohanlal and Prithviraj posting on a social networking site that the discussions are on.

With the discussions on, the shooting of the film is expected to commence in March next year with the makers planning to release it for Onam. In the meantime, Prithviraj is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Vimaanam on December 21st as a Christmas release. Directed by Pradeep M. Nair, the film is bankrolled by Listin Stephen under his banner Magic Frames. The star’s other acting assignments include Detroit Crossing, My Story and the untitled Anjali Menon film.

On the other hand, Mohanlal is busy with the VA Shrikumar Menon directorial Odiyan. He also has the untitled Ajoy Varma film and the untitled Shaji Kailas - Renji Panicker film in his kitty which is slated to commence next year. With the two talented stars – Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal – teaming up for a film, expectations are high among movie buffs. More details about Lucifer, including the rest of star cast and crew is expected to be announced once the discussions are over.
