Vidhu Vincent, who won many accolades for her first film Manhole, has shared the first look poster of her new film - Stand Up. Actor Nimisha Sajayan features in the poster, standing behind a mic and facing an audience. Obviously, she is doing a stand-up act.

The film, produced by Silicon Media, will start rolling in 2019, the poster says. It appears the film is about a female stand-up comedian.

Vidhu Vincent, a journalist for years, had made history in 2016 when she became the first woman director from the state whose film (Manhole) was chosen in the competition category of the International Film Festival of Kerala. She also won the Best Malayalam Film award at the IFFK that year, for 'the raw reality with which the film sheds light on the persistent inhumanity of manual scavengers in India, despite its being legally banned, in a cinematically eloquent manner'. When the state awards came the next year, Vidhu was named the best director and Manhole, the best film.

In 2017, Vidhu also became an active voice of the Women in Cinema Collective that was formed following the assault on a woman actor in a moving car.

Nimisha Sajayan, the heroine of Vidhu’s new film, has also just won her first state award  - for Best Actor (female) - for her performances in Chola and Oru Kuprasidha PayyanChola, directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, has not released yet. Nimisha plays a schoolgirl in the film – an eighth grader - and from the teaser, she's someone going through a difficult experience. Oru Kuprasidha Payyan saw her play a reluctant but hard-working lawyer who has to argue against her mentor in a difficult case. Nimisha also has a Rajeev Ravi film this year - Thuramukham, and another Lal Jose film that is being shot.
