Kathanayakudu, the first part of the NTR biopic, hit the marquee a few days ago and is receiving good response from audiences and critics. On the film’s success, its director J Krish has said that it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of his crew.
On working on the project, Krish told the Times of India in an interview, “It was a great responsibility to tell the story of the great NTR on screen convincingly. A lot of hard work and planning went into the making of the film as we were working on tight deadlines. In fact, we shot the entire film in just 56 days flat and it was really only possible because we were blessed with such a great crew. So it feels great to see that the film has struck a chord with the audiences.”
Heaping praises on his technical crew, J Krish pointed out, “Gnana Sekhar’s cinematography was just top class. He took great care with the lighting patterns in specific because the story plays out across 35-odd years and made sure the sequences blended in seamlessly. Hats off to him. Art director Suresh Sai and costume designer Aishwarya Rajeev deserve equal praise. Suresh had to erect more than 30 different sets in 56 days, we shot on a new set almost every other day. And he did a great job with it, so did Aishwarya whose styling lent authenticity to the characters. The dialogues filled with great humour and emotions added more depth to the screenplay. I have worked with him (Sai Madhav Burra) before and I believe NTR is our best work till date, hands down.”
On MM Keeravani’s background music, he said, “He delivered some fantastic tunes and the background score amped up every moment in the film to perfection. It took him 10 minutes to come up with ‘Venditera Dora’ as soon as we narrated the sequence to him. Hearing it for the first time even brought tears to my eyes. The title track ‘Kathaa Nayaka’ too worked out perfectly.”
