Tamil director and actor Cheran’s Thavamai Thavamirundhu was screened on television recently and it went on to receive positive comments. The film about a father’s unconditional love for his children which goes unreciprocated went on to do well at the box office when it released in 2005.

Written and directed by Cheran, who also played the lead role, Thavamai Thavamirundhu starred Padma Priya as the female lead. Raj Kiran, Saranya, Senthil Kumar, Meenal, Ilavarasu and Karthick V formed the supporting cast of this flick. The technical crew included Sabesh - Murali for music, M. S. Prabhu for cinematography and B Lenin for editing.

While thanking everyone who appreciated Thavamai Thavamirundhu, Cheran rued that his film with Vijay Sethupathi was getting delayed due to unknown reasons. He took to twitter and stated, “The screenplay of my film with Vijay Sethupathi will be on the lines of Thavamai Thavamirunthu but for unknown reasons, it's getting delayed. Brothers and sisters will consider it as a precious film. Will time pave way for the film?” (Translated from Tamil)

While Cheran is waiting for Vijay Sethupathi’s dates, the star is busy with multiple projects in different stages of production. 

Recently, the star’s look in the upcoming Telugu film Uppena was released and he looked menacing in a white shirt and dhoti. Uppena is directed by debutant Buchi Babu Sana who was the scriptwriter of the hit movie Rangasthalam. The film is  produced by Y. Naveen, Y. Ravi Shankar, C. V. Mohan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film was to be released on April 2 this year, but with the current lockdown due to the COVID-19 situation, it has been postponed. The new release date is expected to be revealed soon.

Besides this Telugu film, Vijay Sethupathi has a number of Tamil films in different stages of production including Laabam, Master and Kadesi Vivasayi in which he plays a cameo role.
