Did Kerala MLA PC George just call KM Mani a cow for quitting the UDF?

Ironically George himself has hopped out of coalitions in the past.

The news of KM Mani severing ties with United Democratic Front after over three decades naturally made headlines, seen as it was as a major transition in Kerala politics. And as was to be expected it also gave rise to a number of memes and posts by internet trolls of various shades.

What many didn’t expect, however, was Poonjar MLA PC George’s provocative “analysis” of the situation.

In a Facebook post on Monday, titled Oru Varthamana Kadha, which roughly translates to A Present-day Tale, George carefully chose not to take names, but certainly raised eyebrows for his analogy comparing Mani to a cow looking for greener pastures.

“After gracing on ‘tricoloured’ land for all these years, the cow has now moved on in search of greener pastures after ensuring that not even a blade of grass will grow in the tricoloured land for the next four years,” he wrote.

He went on to write that the cow now fondly looks to both the saffron land and the revolutionary land, hoping to set foot in either of them. If the cow chose to stay in its own land, George writes, it would starve to death.

“So, the cow decides to look for greener pastures and set out with its calf. They are now equidistant from the saffron land and the revolutionary land, and is in the hope that one of them would invite them in. The cow stands there with a board saying ‘independent’ dangling from its neck,” he wrote.

What is ironic about the post is that George himself quit the Kerala Congress (Joseph) faction and joined Kerala Congress (Mani) faction in 2009. But in 2015, George quit the KC (M) to contest and win in the 2016 Assembly polls as an independent candidate.
