Adithya Varma, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, marks the debut of Vikram’s son Dhruv, who will reprise Vijay Devarakonda’s role from the original. The film was planned to be released on multiple occasions over the course last two months but it got postponed for various reasons unknown. Later it was announced that the film will hit the screens on November 8 but now the release of the film has been pushed again to November 21.

The film has been awarded 'A' certificate while allegedly the makers have requested the board for 'U/A' to get a wider release worldwide. According to sources, this is the reason for the delay in the release.

It may be noted, the project was initially directed by national award-winning filmmaker Bala, was scheduled for release in March this year. In a shocking turn of events, the makers of the film later announced via a statement that they’re scraping the current version of Varmaa, made by Bala, and plan to re-shoot it with a new cast as they were unhappy with the output of the version of the film. They went on to reveal that Dhruv will be retained for the new version of the remake.

E4 Entertainment, the makers of the film, shot the film from scratch with debut director Girisayya, who had assisted filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Arjun Reddy.  The new version has actress Banita Sandhu, who made her debut with Shoojit Sircar’s October last year. The film also stars Anbu Thasan, Priya Anand in pivotal roles. Ravi K Chandran is cranking the camera which has music by Radhan and was rechristened as Adithya Varma.
