Reports from the tinsel town are that the National Award winning actor Dhanush’s film with Tollywood star Nagarjuna has been shelved. The project was announced several months ago and was supposed to go on to the floors by the end of this year.

However, it has now been put on hold with Dhanush planning to shift his focus on the new project titled Asuran. He may revive the Nag project soon after completing Asuran, say sources.

It may be noted here that Dhanush originally planned the script for his father-in-law Rajinikanth but the Superstar could not take up the offer due to date issues. Following this, Nag was approached to take up the role considering his huge popularity among the Tamil and Telugu audiences. But for reasons unknown, the project has been put in the cold storage.

Dhanush was supposed to wield the megaphone for this project and also play an important role. He had assembled the star cast comprising Sarath Kumar, SJ Surya, Srikanth and Aditi Rao Hydari.

It may be noted here that in an interview to the Times of India, Nagarjuna had reportedly told earlier about the Dhanush directorial as, “It’s a period drama and this role is extra special to me because I’ve attempted something I’ve never done before. I play a character who goes 600 years back in time. It’s an interesting role.”

Dhanush’s very first directorial Pa Paandi in Tamil was one of the biggest hits and this film is being remade in other languages.

It was remade in Kannada and released under the title Ambi Ning Vayasaayitho. The film had Ambareesh reprising the role done by Raj Kiran with Sudeep playing the role done by Dhanush.
