The rumour about Dhanush teaming up with Mundasupatti director Ramkumar has been doing the rounds for a few weeks now. At the audio launch of Ramkumar’s forthcoming Tamil release Ratchasan on Tuesday it was revealed that Ramkumar’s next film is indeed with Dhanush.

Speaking at the event, actor Vishnu Vishal recalled how the project got materialized. “After we worked together in Mundasupatti, I told Ram that we should work again. He was also interested but told me that he’d get back when he’s ready with a story. Few months later, he told me he’s still working on a script. I contacted again after a few months and he still wasn’t ready. When he was finally ready with the script, he told me the story might not be suitable for me. I was disappointed because he told me we’d work together again.”

After being turned down by many producers and actors, Ramkumar returned to Vishnu with the script. “He told me that no other actors were interested in doing this script. When I read it, I suggested that he makes minor changes and then I’d be interested. He returned a few days later with the changes and gave my nod. Now that we completed Ratchasan, I told him that we should work again and he promised that we’d collaborate next. But I hear he’s signed a film with Dhanush next. Looks like I have to wait again to work with him,” Vishnu joked.

Dhanush is currently busy directing his second film, a multi-starrer featuring Sarath Kumar, Srikanth, Aditi Rao Hydari, Anu Emmanuel and Akkineni Nagarjuna. Meanwhile, Dhanush currently awaits the release of Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai, which chronicles three decades in the life of a gangster, played by Dhanush, from North Madras. The project, which will be made as a trilogy, marks Dhanush’s third collaboration with Vetrimaaran after Pollathavan and Aadukalam. Dhanush also awaits the release of Maari 2, which is expected to hit the screens later this year.
