Dhanush will soon be foraying into the Kannada film industry! The actor-producer is currently producing the Malayalam film Tharangam in which Tovino Thomas is playing the lead role and has set his eyes on Sandalwood as well. He will be producing a Kannada film under his banner Wunderbar Films in association with noted Kannada producer Jacob Varghese. And for this project, Rishi of Operation Alamelamma fame has been roped in to play the lead role.

Rishi is excited at the prospect of starring in the film and has reportedly been quoted by the Times of India as saying, "The script of this film is currently being worked upon and it is going to be directed by ad filmmaker Islahuddin. The film will be jointly backed by Dhanush and Kannada filmmaker Jacob Varghese and it will have shades of films that Dhanush's production house is known for.”

Rishi made his debut as an actor with Operation Alamelamma earlier this year and the film went on to become a big hit. Directed by Suni, the film had Rishi and Shraddha Srinath playing the lead pair with Rajesh Nataranga, Aruna Balaraj, Sheelam M, Vijeth Gowda, Dheeraj Shetty, Pranaya Murthy and Sumukha Bharadwaj playing supporting roles. Bankrolled by Amrej Suryavanshi and Suni under the banners Suni Cinemas and StarFab, the film was made on a budget of Rs. 1.5 crores and went on to collect Rs. 10 crores at the box office.

Rishi is now busy playing a cop in the upcoming film Kaavaludaari which is being helmed by Hemanth M Rao.

Meanwhile, Dhanush is concentrating on a slew of films including Maari 2 directed by Balaji Mohan, Enai Noki Paayum Thota by Gautham Menon and Vada Chennai by Vetrimaran. By producing a Kannada movie, Dhanush will have set his foot in all the four south Indian film industries.
