Actor Dhanush, according to the industry grapevine, may star in the Tamil remake of recent Telugu blockbuster Majili, which featured Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Akkineni in the lead. The film, which has been doing exceptionally well at the box-office, has already had its remake rights sold and a leading producer is keen on roping in Dhanush. While the actor has expressed interest, he is yet to watch the film and take a call on whether he wants to star in the remake. Currently busy with three projects, the remake might take time to materialise if Dhanush gives his nod.

Directed by Shiva Nirvana, who rose to fame with Ninnu Kori, Majili is centered on Naga Chaitanya’s character and his life’s journey seen through the eyes of three women. Samantha plays his wife in Majili and her character of Sravani has gone on to impress audiences and critics alike. The film has struck gold at the box-office by grossing over Rs 50 crore worldwide in its first week. The film continues to run on packed houses everywhere. Majili, which also starred Divyansha Kaushik, Atul Kulkarni and Rao Ramesh among others, featured Chaitanya in the role of a failed cricketer.

It’s been over a decade since Dhanush starred in a remake. His 2008 film Yaaradi Nee Mohini was the remake of his brother Selvaraghavan’s directorial Telugu hit drama Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule.

Currently busy shooting for an untitled project with director Durai Senthil Kumar, Dhanush has recently completed shooting for Vetrimaaran’s Asuran. Interestingly, he plays dual roles in Asuran as well as in Senthil Kumar’s film. He also has a film each with Ratsasan fame Ramkumar and director Mari Selvaraj of Pariyerum Perumal. Asuran is being produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu under his banner V Creations.

The star cast for Asuran also has Balaji Shaktivel. It is reportedly adapted from novel called Vekkai. Though the project was announced several months ago, the shooting much later and is progressing at a brisk pace.
