Basking in the success of his latest movie Asuran, actor Dhanush is keeping himself busy working on new projects. Sources say that Dhanush might have averted a possible box office clash with his father-in-law Rajinikanth, whose movie Darbar is scheduled for a Pongal release.

The Asuran star awaits the release of Pattas, helmed by Kodi fame director Durai Senthil Kumar. It was widely speculated that the film may clash with his father-in-law's Darbar at the box office as a Pongal release in 2020. However, the makers are yet to make a formal announcement regarding the release date of Pattas. According to the industry grapevine, Pattas will not hit the screens for Pongal and the patchwork shooting is in progress which will be for twelve days.

It is said that Dhanush will be seen in dual roles of a father and his son in Pattas. Actor Sneha and Mehreen Pirzada will be the female leads in the movie. While Sneha will pair up against Dhanush in his father character, Mehreen Pirzada has been signed as Dhanush’s pair for the son’s role. Pattas is bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films, which recently produced Viswasam and Dhanush's Thodari directed by Prabhu Solomon. Om Prakash is the cinematographer of this movie, which will also mark his fourth project with Dhanush after Maari, Anegan and Maari 2. Vivek-Mervin duo has been roped in to take care of the music.

Dhanush recently wrapped up shooting for the untitled film tentatively called 'D40' directed by Karthik Subbaraj. This will be the first collaboration between Dhanush and Karthik Subbaraj. Apart from this, Dhanush has three projects in his kitty. He will start shooting for Pariyerum Perumal fame director Mari Selvaraj from December. The yet-to-titled movie will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu who had recently produced Asuran. Dhanush also has a film with Ratsasan director Ramkumar which is touted to be a fantasy-comedy. He also has another film which will be directed by his brother and director Selvaraghavan. The duo is set to join hands for the fourth time and that movie will also be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.
