Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence at Amaravati received a demolition notice from the YSRCP-led state government on Thursday night. The notice by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CDRA) has asked the occupants to vacate the premises within seven days. The notice to vacate the premises was issued as the luxury villa was constructed allegedly in violation of various environmental laws.

The notice was found pasted next to the security guard’s room. All surrounding structures have also received notices from the AP CRDA.

The notices come days after the state government demolished Praja Vedika, the people's grievances cell located a few meters away from Naidu's rented residence.

The notice posted on the wall said the CRDA upon inspection found that the construction on the land took place without legal permission and against the rules. The notice read: "The land details D NO 250, 254, 272, 274 Undavalli, of Tadepalli Mandal Guntur district. In a 6.00 cents land, the building was constructed illegally. As the building construction in the above-mentioned land without any legal permission, ground and first floor the RCC room swimming pool, the helipad was built in below 100 meters distance of Krishna river, and also without taking permission from this organisation there were 10 temporary sheds were built."

The CRDA has said construction should be razed to ground within seven days and have also sought the explanation as to why the CRDA shouldn't issue them a notice.

During his tenure, Naidu had rented the luxury villa on the Krishna river waterfront from Lingamani estates. The premises had a swimming pool and Naidu built a helipad and the Praja Vedika to cut short his commute. The villa and surrounding structures were constructed without following due process and in violation of the Andhra Pradesh River Conservancy Act and Centre's Environmental Protection Act.

"All these structures were earlier given similar notices four years ago. Most of them went to the court and received a  stay order on the demolition," said N Vijay Kumar,a leader with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The party, however, is not too keen on taking the state government to court over the demolition notice. Naidu is already on the house hunt and is in the process of selecting a guest house either at Amaravati or at Vijayawada.

"Most probably, Naidu will vacate and at present, he is searching for a home and has identified a few places at Velagapudi, a sarpanches house in Amaravati a few kilometres away from the present residence. In Vijayawada a guest house next to Kamineni hospital and a few other guest houses. They have taken videos and shown to Naidu; he will take a call accordingly," added Vijay.

N Vijay Kumar added, “The TDP party president is living in this house on rent. Before taking it on rent, we checked all the documents, and it has been established that it has permits from the Panchayat (in 2012). It is also in accordance with the River Conservancy Act.

Srinivas Kesineni Nani, the TDP MP, took to Twitter to express his views over the notice being sent to Naidu's residence.

The party is also now doubtful of the cabinet perks of the former CM and leader of the opposition will still be extended to Naidu. At present, the rent for Naidu's residence is paid for by the state government, the party expressed its concerns over the possibility of Naidu's cabinet rank and benefits being curtailed, says TDP.
