Image for representationAfter Uber, app-based taxi services Olacabs and TaxiFor Sure have come under the spotlight for not implementing measures to ensure safety for their women passengers. A woman passenger from Delhi has alleged that the driver of a TaxiForSure cab masturbated while driving. On July 3, the woman took to Facebook and Twitter to narrate what she had to face the previous night. In her post she wrote that she had ordered for an Olacab, which sent her a TaxiForSure cab. The driver was playing loud music and she had to ask him thrice to lower the volume since she was speaking to someone over the phone. When she was about 25 minutes away from he destination, she noticed that the driver was rash driving. "Moreover he seemed extremely restless, anxious and kept mumbling something to himself," she wrote. She then asked him to drive carefully and when she was about to make her next call, she said she saw that the driver was masturbating. "He had little control over the wheel as well as his perverseness. He had a smile on his face that will haunt me for nights to come," she wrote in her post, in which she also mentioned details of the driver. Since it was late then, she did not react immediately. But after she reached her destination, she confronted the driver who denied the allegation. She called both the cab services and made a complaint against the driver with TaxiForSure. While concluding her post, she asked Olacabs and TaxiForSure that "When you claim to provide a cab in under 15 minutes, did you forget the mental harassment and potential threat to safety of passengers that comes with it?" Her post was retweeted several times and TaxiForSure replied saying they would look into the incident and ensure that strict action was taken. The woman had then post a comment saying, "I have nothing against the company as long as they fire the driver and jail him. That IS their responsibility." On Monday she posted several tweets saying the driver had been fired by the cab company.  So I met 2 reps frm @TFSCares at my office today who ensured they've fired the driver in question. My only question to them: Is it enough? — Miss Aurora (@LadyOldMonk) July 6, 2015Clearly I can do way more as an individual than entire @TFSCares organisation but then who is responsible for this entire mess? #unsafeTFS — Miss Aurora (@LadyOldMonk) July 6, 2015While today was a complete waste, @TFSCares ensure your legal team gets in touch with me. Release the pic of the driver/aadhaar card asap. — Miss Aurora (@LadyOldMonk) July 6, 2015The News Minute has written to TaxiForSure asking for a comment on the issue, but hadn't received a response at the time of publishing the copy. The copy will be updated as and when TNM gets a reply from TaxiForSure.
