Delhi police to file chargesheet against 21 AAP MLAs

Image source: Aam Aadmi Party/FacebookThe Delhi Police is reportedly expected to file chargesheets against 21 MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party against whom criminal cases have been registered in police stations across the state. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also features on the list with three cases having been registered against him. Some of the other MLA's included in the list are Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal and AAP's Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar.A total of 48 cases were registered against the AAP MLA's of which a compromise was reached in one. According to a report in The Indian Express, a majority of the cases relate to the MLA's preventing government officials from carrying out their duties. However, the newspaper's sources said that two MLAs face serious criminal charges including molestation, cheating (Manoj Kumar) and forgery, which can invoke stricter action. Party members feel that the NDA government is using the issue to deflect the attention from the ongoing Sushma Swaraj-Lalit Modi controversy. "Delhi Police is acting against us, but what about the BJP leaders with criminal charges against them?", a report in The Hindu quotes AAP leader Sanjay Singh as saying in a recent press conference. Another AAP leader, Ashutosh, on Wednesday put out a series of tweets alleging that editors were being pressured to divert focus from the Sushma Swaraj story.  My name is missing in the list of people to be arrested by Delhi police. Many cases Ag me also.Feeling left out and unimportant. — ashutosh (@ashutosh83B) June 17, 2015To divert attention from Sushma, story of 21 AAP MLAs to be arrested,is planted by MODI GOVT.Gullible TV channels are gleefully running.Haha — ashutosh (@ashutosh83B) June 17, 2015Some times I really feel sorry for the quality of TV reporters. They take direct dope from Police/Officials/ministers without verification. — ashutosh (@ashutosh83B) June 17, 2015An editor told me they are under tremendous pressure to move away fm Sushma as its now hurting those in BJP who wanted to fix Sushma. — ashutosh (@ashutosh83B) June 17, 2015I request all TV crime reporters to get an official byte from police stating that they are planning to charge sheet and arrest 21 AAP MLAs. — ashutosh (@ashutosh83B) June 17, 2015Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told The Indian Express that he had no knowledge of the chargesheets, but added that “in pending cases our objective is to complete the investigations at the earliest and bring the facts before the court.”
