The Delhi assembly saw tense scenes on Monday as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government countered allegations of ‘diluting’ the proposed Janlokpal Bill 2015 and tabled it. Ousted AAP leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav were detained as Swaraj Abhiyan leaders protested outside.
This came a day after Bhushan held a press conference demanding that the copy due to be tabled be 'made public and said “contrary to claims” made by the Arvind Kejriwal government, the proposed legislation is “completely” different from its previous 2014 version.
“Kejriwal should come and debate this in public. It will expose the fraud he and his team have committed with the people of the country and the anti-corruption movement. If you have actually copied from Jan Lokpal Bill 2014 or the Uttarakhand Bill, what took you so long? The truth is that the Bill is against every principle on the basis of which the anti-corruption movement fought for the institution of Jan Lokpal,” Prashant Bhushan said.
Terming the bill "Jokepal" Yogendra Yadav also went on to say that the bill was "nothing but a joke and the Delhi government is defrauding people."
This also came a day after Yadav put out a Facebook status claiming that "the latest expose by Prashant Bhushan today has finally nailed the lies and deceits on Lokpal bill of Delhi. Yesterday he had shown that the Delhi's Lolpal Bill 2015 had gone back on all the main promises of the JanLokpal movement.
