The News Minute | July 12, 2014 | 10.38 am IST Three farmers have committed suicide in Gajwel, Medak district, which also happens to be Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s constituency. According to an NDTV report, a combination of earlier loans, failure of the crop in the past and the current delayed monsoon all pushed the three farmers Yellaiah, Ravi, and Muthyalu to kill themselves. One of the farmers, Yellaiah had taken 10 acres of land on lease to grow cotton. His widow Mallavvah told NDTV that they had incurred losses for the last two-three years by growing cotton. This year, she says he bought 20 packets of seeds for Rs 1,100 each. The seedlings dried up in the absence of rain.
