Darshan’s fans are waiting eagerly for the release of his upcoming historical Kurukshetra, which is in the post-production mode. According to reports, the dubbing process is currently going on with the makers eyeing a June release.

While this film is nearing completion, we hear from sources that Darshan has gone ahead and signed his next. He has apparently agreed to play the lead role in an untitled film to be directed by Tarun Sudhir of Chowka fame.

Enquiries about who would bankroll the project revealed that it will be Umapathy, who was one of the co-producers of the hit movie Hebbuli, which had Kiccha Sudeep in the lead role. It may be mentioned here that Chowka had Prem Kumar, Vijay Raghavendra, Prajwal Devaraj, Diganth, Priyamani, Bhavana, Aindrita Ray and Deepa Sannidhi in the star cast.

According to earlier reports, Umapathy was to produce a film which was to be helmed by director Prem Kumar but he backed out later for certain reasons.

Darshan is currently busy playing the lead role in the Pon Kumar directorial Yajamana. The film’s shooting commenced a couple of months ago and the team is now well into the second schedule. After completing the Pon Kumar film, Darshan will move on to Tarun Sudhir’s film and then will team up with director Sandesh Nagaraj for a project that is expected to go on the floors later this year.

While in Kurukshetra, Darshan plays Duryodhana and the Mahabharata is told from his perspective, his next film Yajamana is a completely different genre. Kurukshetra has a bevy of stars in the cast, including Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, Nikhil Kumar and others, while in Yajamana, Darshan will be sharing screen space with Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Tanya Hope, Thakur Anoop Singh, P Ravi Shankar, Devaraj and Dhananjay are the others in the star cast.
