Darshan’s 51st film, Yajamana is progressing at a brisk pace. The shooting for this film began on February 18 amidst much fanfare and was wrapped up on March 10. Important scenes were shot at the Shashidhar Adapa in Mysuru during the first schedule and the team including hero Darshan and director Pon Kumar are happy with the outcome.

According to reports doing rounds in the Kannada film industry, Yajamana team will go ahead with the second schedule after Ugadi and it is break time until then.

While Darshan plays the lead role in the film, it has Rashmika Mandanna playing the female lead along with Tanya Hope as the second heroine. Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh and Devaraj will be seen playing significant roles in this flick.

Bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, the former confirmed that the team finalized the title Yajamana after considering two other titles. She also made it clear that Darshan’s Yajamana has nothing to do with the Vishnuvardhan starrer Yajamana that was released 18 years ago.

Yajamana is the title of the blockbuster hit movie that had the icon of Sandalwood, Dr Vishnuvardhan in the lead role. Vishnuvardhan’s Yajamana was the remake of the Tamil movie Vanathai Pola, which was directed by Vikraman and produced by V Ravichandran under his banner Aascar Films.

On the characters in the film, the producer reportedly told that though it has two heroines – Rashmika Mandanna and Tanya Hope – it is not a triangular love story as speculated. Thakur Anoop Singh plays the baddie in Yajamana while Devaraj will be seen as Rashmika’s father.

V Hari Krishna will not only be composing the tunes for the film but is also credited as its creative head for penning the story along with director Pon Kumaran.

While Yajamana is under progress, Darshan is awaiting the release of his magnum opus Kurukshetra in which he plays Duryodhana and the story is told from his perspective. The film stars Darshan in the lead role with the star cast also including Ambareesh, V Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Meghana Raj, P Ravi Shankar, Sonu Sood and Nikhil Gowda.
