The News Minute | November 26, 2014 | 11.15 am IST | Updated 05:20 pmThe MDMK party cadre celebrated slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran’s 60th birth anniversary. The state police had earlier denied them permission to conduct a function to commemorate Prabhakaran’s birthday on November 27, which made them move the High Court of Madras. The verdict by the HC which arrived on Wednesday has granted permission for the conduct of the rally on Thursday by MDMK chief Vaiko. Earlier, BJP leader Subramanium Swamy had demanded that anyone who celebrated the LTTE chief’s birthday should be arrested. The MDMK cadres celebrated the birthday with their chief Vaiko cutting a cake in the party office. Vaiko accused the UPA government guilty of genocide. “I also accuse the partners of UPA for this genocide,” he said after cutting the cake.“Vajpayee has helped Tamils. I respect him. He is a true leader. I have told BJP several times to follow his governance but no one listens,” Vaiko said. “The solution for the Tamil issue is a referendum. I appreciate former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for bringing a resolution on economic sanctions against Sri Lanka,” he further said. He also had a message for the Prime Minister. He said that he was a small fry and that in the quest of developing relations with neighbouring countries the PM should not trust Sri Lanka. He reiterated his party's demand. "Our wish and aim is an independent Tamil Eelam," he said. He also expressed hope that it would become a reality. Read: I admire Karunanidhi, too early to talk about alliance with DMK: Vaiko
