Kerala High Court Judge B Kemal Pasha has responded to the criticism against him for his comments over the bar bribery scam in the state.
Pasha who was speaking at an event conducted in remembrance of late Supreme court judge VR Krishna Iyer said that criticizing a judge is equal to 'beating someone after tying his hands.'
Saying that he was not scared about the fact that he doesn’t avoid any particular cases to please someone, he also said that the people should criticize the judgement and not the judge.
It was Pasha’s judgement which upheld the vigilance court’s order to conduct further probe into the bar bribery case, which had forced former Finance Minister KM Mani to resign from the post. His judgment had also invited sharp criticism from the Congress
Pasha in his statement, had said "Caesar’s wife should be above suspicion … I leave it to the conscience of the accused whether to continue as a minister,” - which was used by opposition parties to come down heavily on Mani.
With no options left, Mani later resigned and said that he did it out of respect for the judiciary.
