Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan stated that he could have an alliance with AIADMK or DMK for the elections as they are maintaining good relations with both the parties. But now they are firm on remaining part of People’s Welfare Front (PWF).
In an interview with Times of India, Thirumavalavan said, “I have recalled our good relations with the DMK and the AIADMK. Even now we have a good equation with them. If we want, we can go back to either the AIADMK or the DMK, but we are firm on remaining in the PWF.”
He added, “We formed the PWF to give an alternative to the Dravidian parties, not because we could not find a place in those fronts.”
Asked about DMDK chief Vijayakanth and TMC leader GK Vasan joining PWF, he said that Vijayakanth neither committed to join PWF nor opposed to it. Vasan said that he wanted to consult with senior leader before taking a final decision, according to Times of India.
Talking about VCK’s decision to have an alliance with PMK in 2011, Thirumavalavan said that both PMK and VCK lost seats, VCK lost 10 and PMK lost 27 out of 30 seats. But he stated that DMK blamed both VCK and PMK for their loss. He told Times of India, “If the problem was only between VCK and PMK, why did DMK candidates lose? The entire DMK front was hit because independent and non-party voters, who constitute about 60% of voters, rejected us due to the 2G spectrum scam.”
Criticizing Ramadoss, he said that he played the Vanniyar card and portrays his son as the CM candidate. He added, “He fought against inter-caste marriages, made them a tool to attack me and the VCK,” as told in an interview to Times of India.
