There is every possibility of Ajith, Vijay and Suriya clashing at the box office next Diwali. According to reports, Vijay’s 62nd film to be directed by AR Murugadoss, Ajith’s 58th film to be helmed by Siva and Suriya’s 36th project, which is a Selvaraghavan directorial, will start rolling from early 2018 onwards. Sources in the know say that the makers of all the three films are eyeing for a Diwali release in 2018 and there are chances that the three biggest and bankable stars in the Tamil film industry may clash at the box office.

Incidentally, such a clash did happen 15 years ago. In 2003, Suriya’s Pitha Magan, directed by Bala, Vijay’s Thirumalai directed by Ramana, the Ajith starrer Anjaneya directed by N Maharajan released on October 24, 2003 for Diwali. Will history repeat itself? Well, it’s too early to predict according to sources.

Vijay, who is currently on a break after the grand success of Mersal despite the controversy surrounding it, will begin work on the AR Murugadoss directorial in January. Ajith’s last release was Vivegam in August and he will be teaming up with director Siva for the fourth time after the success of Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. Suriya’s last film release was Singam 3 and he is currently busy with the Vignesh Shivan directorial Thaana Serndha Kootam. Starring Karthik, Keerthy Suresh, Nandha, Senthil, RJ Balaji and Ramya Krishnan, this film is touted to hit the silver screens on January 12 as a Pongal special. Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for this flick with Dinesh Krishnan cranking the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it. KE Gnanavel Raja is producing this entertainer under his banner Studio Green.
