An additional Sub Inspector of Police attached with Chevayur Police Station in Kozhikode was found hanging at station on Saturday night.

PP Ramakrishnan joined the duty at eight in the night and the death is presumed to have happened between 8.30 and 9.30.

He was the station in-charge at that time. By 8.30 he went to the rest room which is in another building near to the police station.

A woman police personnel went to inform him when a case had to be registered. It was around 9.40 pm. Then she saw him hanging from the ceiling.

According to his colleagues Ramakrishnan was an upright and efficient police personnel who was also an instructor of the Student Police Cadet at Government Model Higher Secondary School.

 "He was very active. But he seemed upset for the past two three days. On Saturday he didn't talk to anyone after joining duty. The food  he brought was kept open at the rest room," a woman police personnel said.

“We don’t know whether he had any personal problems. He looked upset for the past two three days,” she added.

Ramakrishnan’s colleagues brought him to the Medical College Hospital Kozhikode but he was pronounced brought dead.  The body is kept in the hospital for post-mortem. The 49-year old is hailing from Peringolam Kunnamnaglam in Kozhikode. Top police officials have reached the spot.

Ramakrishnan was working at the Town police station Kozhikode. He came to Chevayur police station a month ago. He is survived by wife Sreeja and two children.

A policewoman, Sajini 37, of Wayanad was found hanging inside the restroom of the Amabalavayal police station in May.

She was a civil police officer.
