Well-known comedian and television anchor Thaadi Balaji has been accused of issuing death threats as well as harassment by his wife Nithya, who has now filed a police complaint against him. Nithya filed a police complaint on Thursday where she stated that Balaji has resorted to alcoholism again and has been calling her and issuing threatening messages, a police official told TNM. A case has now been registered against Balaji at Madavaram police station based on her complaint.
“On February 21, Nithya came to our station and filed a complaint against her husband Balaji stating that he has issued death threats against her and her daughter. She said that he visited their house one day and started banging on the window when he was inebriated. Based on her complaint, we have filed a Community Service Register (CSR). We contacted Balaji, he has said he is at a shoot now and will come to the police station on Saturday for questioning,” SI Bakyaraj of the Madavaram police station told TNM.
Nithya has also stated in her complaint that Balaji used to bring friends over to their house, get drunk and mentally torture her and her daughter.
According to reports, there have been several misunderstandings between the couple, who has a daughter. Balaji is reportedly not happy with Nithya’s post as the head of a women’s organisation. Two years ago, Nithya had separated from Balaji and a case is pending in the family court. She had earlier too alleged that Balaji physically assaulted her and had released a video as well.
Last year in September, however, the couple appeared together on the second season of Bigg Boss Tamil and host Kamal Haasan, as well as other contestants, had then asked them to iron out their differences. Reports state Balaji had asked for a second chance and they had started living together again recently.
