An argument between two school students in Hyderabad took an ugly turn after one them attacked the other with a knife.
The incident occurred in Nacharam on Tuesday, when two Class 10 students were having a confrontation.
The police said that both boys were minors, and the accused allegedly passed lewd comments on the victim's sister, besides attempting to sexually harass and stalk her.
After one such incident of harassment three days ago, the girl informed her brother about it.
Since the school was closed for Sankranti holidays, the two boys decided to meet at a designated spot and exchange blows, the police said.
"Both sustained injuries after exchanging blows. A little later, one of them took out a knife that he had brought from home and stabbed the other. According to information given by the victim, his friend too sustained injuries on the leg. However, we are yet to confirm this” Nacharam Sub-Inspector N Ramesh told reporters.
The victim's father was reported to be a driver, and he filed a complaint with the police. The boy was admitted to Prasad Hospital.
G Vikram Reddy, spokesperson for the hospital, said that the boy was undergoing treatment after a deep injury, as the knife had reached close to his lungs.
Malkajgiri ACP G Sandeep told reporters that the victim was out of danger, and a case had been registered under relevant sections of the Juvenile Act, besides section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
This is not the first such incident where a serious fight has broken out between school students in Hyderabad.
In July last year, a six-year-old boy died during treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad, four days after he was allegedly injured in a fight with another boy at his school.
According to his parents, another boy who was two years older than their child had beaten him up on the school premises on July 12.
