It was reported some time ago that Kannada actor Chiranjeevi Sarja has signed a new film. The buzz now is that the film has been titled Kakhi. While the title seems to indicate that it is a cop story, we hear that is not true. Reports have confirmed that Chiranjeevi will be playing a cable operator in the film. Kakhi comes with the tagline: The Power of Common Man, indicating that it will deliver a strong social awareness message for the audiences.

Wielding the megaphone for Kakhi will be debutant director Naveen Reddy. The film will be bankrolled by Tharun Shivappa under the Tharun Talkies banner. The technical crew of Kakhi includes Ritvik to compose music and Balu to crank the camera.

Talks are on with some actors to play the lead opposite Chiranjeevi in the film but no one has been signed up till now. The shooting for Kakhi is scheduled to begin in March and the groundwork for it is on. More details about this project are expected to be out soon.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi has a slew of films in Sandalwood needing his attention. He has his hands full with Jugari Cross, Ranam, Rajamarthanda, Aa Kshana and Singha in different stages of production.

The muhurat of Jugari Cross, directed by TS Nagabharana, took place recently amidst a lot of fanfare. Ranam, directed by V Samudra, has Chiranjeevi sharing screen space with Chetan Kumar of Aa Dinagaul fame. It is interesting to note that there are reports that Chetan Kumar’s role is sketched on the lines of the revolutionary Che Guevara and Chiranjeevi Sarja will be seen playing an encounter specialist.

It may be noted here that Chiranjeevi’s last outing was Amma I Love You, which was a remake of the hit Tamil movie Pichaikaran, starring Vijay Anthony.
