Director Venkat Prabhu shot to limelight with his 2007 directorial debut Chennai 28 and built his reputation with films like Saroja, Goa and Mankatha. And while the sequel Chennai 28 did not make as big a splash as the original, his fans have eagerly been awaiting his next project.

Now comes the news that Venkat will be helming a movie starring senior actor Dr Rajasekhar in the lead. Apparently, the star was floored by Venkat Prabhu’s narration of the script, and decided to hop on board the project immediately, say sources.

Touted to be a new age entertainer, Venkat’s film will have a meaty role for the star. According to sources, Rajasekhar was particularly impressed with the way his character has been etched out. Moreover, the star is also excited to be working on a Tamil film after a long gap, since has been wanting to star in a film in his mother tongue for a while now.

Dr Rajasekar made his acting debut with the Tamil film Pudhumai Penn in 1984, and has acted in a number of films that went on to become commercial blockbusters. Some of his hits in Tamil and Telugu include Repati Pourulu, Mister Bharat, Dharma Yuddham, Magaadu, Gangmaster, Idhu Thaanda Police, Meesaikaran and Mannikka Vendugiren etc. His last outing at the theatres was Gaddam Gang, which hit the screens in 2015.

Venkat Prabhu is busy with the pre-production of the film and it is likely to hit the floors in a couple of months. The director’s brother and comedian Premji Amaren is also likely to be included in the star cast. Details about the rest of the cast and crew are also set to be revealed shortly.
