The News Minute | March 31, 2015 | 3.40 pm ISTWomen who arrive in Kerala’s capital city will now have a safe and affordable lodging as City Corporation is all set to launch its first short stay home for women.The project which costs Rs. 25 lakh will be inaugurated next week at Sreekanteshwaram, Thiruvananthapuram.The stay has nine rooms and a dormitory, which can accommodate around 65 women, spread over two floors.Women can stay here up to three days by paying Rs. 100 per day.“Security will be provided 24 hours. It is a non-profit venture, that intends to help women coming alone to the city for attending interviews or for some other official purposes,” said Rajan, chairman, corporation welfare standing committee.“We have arranged all the basic necessities at the lodge, by taking expert opinion. Space for recreation is also available there,” he addedThe Officials told The News Minute that the short stay project will be inaugurated next week.The concept of short stay home was evolved as a part of corporation’s projects to make Thiruvananthapuram a women-friendly city. A women's help desk at the railway station and lactation kiosks will also be launched in the next few months.“We are sure that this will provide a safe and secure environment for women and it will be a success.
