Director Pon Kumar, who last directed Kiccha Sudeep in Vishnuvardhana in 2011, is all set to direct Darshan in his upcoming 51st film. While the groundwork for this as-yet-untitled project is being laid, Darshan is busy shooting for his lead role in Kurukshetra, his landmark 50th film.

The shooting of Kurukshetra is proceeding at a breakneck speed at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where grand sets have been erected for the film.

According to reports doing the rounds, plans are on to sign up Rachita Ram to star opposite Darshan in the upcoming Pon Kumar project, but no deal has been signed so far.

Incidentally, Rachita’s career in Sandalwood began with the Darshan-starrer Bulbul and since then she has had a good rapport with him. She also shared screen space with the Challenging Star in Ambareesha, and if she does sign on to the upcoming project, this will be their third pairing together.

Rachita also has a couple of other films in her kitty right now such as Johnny Johnny Yes Papa with Duniya Vijay and Ayogya with Satish Ninasam.

Pon Kumar had earlier directed the trilingual Chaarulatha, which released in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, and also has the Bengali film Bachchan to his credit. His other Kannada directorial features are Jai Lalitha, Raja Rajendra, Tirupathi Express and Gowdru Hotel. Pon Kumar had also penned the story and dialogues for the Rajinikanth-starrer Lingaa, which was directed by KS Ravi Kumar.
