In a horrific accident at a fun fair at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, one of the cars of a giant wheel came loose and crashed into the ground during the ride, killing an 10-year-old girl and severely injuring the six others who were in the car.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred due to a bolt giving away. The car was carrying 7 people including 3 children, according to NDTV.

In a video taken by onlookers, the car crashes after the bolt came off, throwing all the people in it on to the groud. While 10-year-old Amrutha died almost immediately, others are availing treatment at Anantapur general hospital.

According to reports, eyewitnesses say that they had alerted the giant wheel operator about the loose bolt. However, he was allegedly heavily drunk and delayed in stopping the giant wheel which was in full motion.

The incident happened at a fun fair named ‘Robo Animals Exhibition’, organised at a junior college ground in Anantapur. As it was a weekend evening and summer holidays for children are on, the fair was heavily crowded.

According to Tv5, the deceased 10-year-old belonged to Siddaramapuram at Atmakur mandal in Anantapur.

Angered by the tragic incident, the visitors got hold of the operator and beat him up. He was later rescued and handed over to the police. The district administration has ordered a probe into the accident.
