It was a movie that captured the audience’s imagination and went on to become a blockbuster hit not just in Kerala, but in other centres too.
With the release of the trailer of ‘Bangalore Naatkal’, the Tamil remake of the Malayalam blockbuster movie Bangalore Days, the expectations among the audience has doubled. But the final outcome will be known when the movie releases on February 5, 2016.
“The success of the movie depends on the final content and how people will lap it up. At the moment it looks good, but one can say how it will fare only after the release. Malayalam movies remade in Tamil have done well so far. The best example is Papanasam which is a remake of Malayam movie Drishyam,” said Sreedhar Pillai, a journalist.

According to First Post, Bangalore Days which released on 30 May, 2015 in 98 screens in Kerala and 105 screens in metro cities, earned nearly Rs 10 crore at the all India box-office, with a distributor share of Rs 4 to 4.5 crore in the first week.
Bangalore Days had also crossed ₹1 crore mark in one month in the UK box office, according to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The final collection of the movie was Rs 50 crore on an investment of Rs 9 crore.
The main leads in the movie were Nazriya Nazim, Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salman and Fahadh Faasil. It is a story about three cousins who are close to each other since childhood and move to Bangalore- their dream destination.
In Bangalore Naatkal, the main leads are actors Rana Daggubati, Sri Divya, Aarya, Bobby Simha, Parvathy, Samantha and Lakshmi Raai. PVP Cinema and Dil Raju had jointly acquired the film's remake rights for Tamil remake of the movie.

Though matching Dulquer and Nivin Pauly would be a tough act, but what fans are also wondering is if Bommarillu Bhaskar will have director Anjali Menon’s finesse.
Bangalore Days was directed by Anjali Menon and produced by Anwar Rasheed and Sophia Paul under the banners of Anwar Rasheed Entertainment and Weekend Blockbusters.
With Malayalam movies like Premam and Bangalore Days being lapped up by Tamil audiences, many of who have already watched the movies with subtitles, the industry is anxious to see if they would still come back to the theatres.
The response for the trailer of the movie has been good till now from the audience but it is yet to see that it will match the expectations and recreate the magic of Bangalore Days. And if it does, then it would predictably start a season of remakes.
