Recently there have been reports from different filmmakers about making a biopic on the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa, which seems to have created a lot of confusion in film circles.

While an announcement was made by producer Vishnu Induri that the biopic will be helmed by AL Vijay, A Priyadhaarshini, who was Mysskin’s associate, also revealed that she was on the verge of making a biopic on the late leader. Then an announcement came from veteran director Bharathiraja that he would be helming a project to be bankrolled by Bharadwaj. In fact, producer Bharadwaj went on to reveal that Ilaiyaraaja would be composing the tunes for the Bharathiraja directorial, with plans to rope in either Aishwarya Rai or Anushka Shetty to play Jayalalithaa.

As the news of the three announcements created a buzz, Vishnu Induri told Deccan Chronicle in an interview that his team has obtained legal clearance to go ahead with the biopic. He is reported to have said, “We have no objections from people making announcements on Jayalalithaa garu’s biopic. It could be their vision and interpretation of her personality. However, we have been cleared by our legal team to go ahead with the film. We spent more than a year researching her personality, speaking to scores of people who are close to her and conducting several interviews too.”

Vishnu is currently co-producing the NTR biopic along with N Balakrishna and Sai Korrapati.

It may be mentioned here that both Trisha and Nayanthara have expressed interest in playing Jayalalithaa if her biopic was ever made. With the ball set in motion for the biopic, fans are hoping one of these talented actors will bag the role. In a television interview recently, Nayan had said that she would love to play the former chief minister in the biopic. Incidentally, Trisha had also expressed her desire to play Jayalalithaa in her biopic.
