The shooting of Tovino Thomas’s Luca has begun and will now progress rapidly to ensure its release this year. The entire cast and crew were present during the film’s launch, making it a grand event. The project was announced last year.
Luca will be directed by debutant Arun Bose. He has scripted the film in association with Mridul George. The film will have Tovino Thomas and Ahaana Krishna playing the lead pair.
The technical crew of Luca will comprise Sooraj S Kurup to compose the tunes, Nimish Ravi for cranking the camera and Nikhil Venu for editing. The film is being bankrolled jointly by Linto Thomas and Prince Hussain under the banner Stories and Thoughts Productions.
After the title was announced, the first-look poster of the film was released featuring Tovino Thomas painting a canvas. He apparently plays an artist in the film.
In the meantime, Tovino Thomas has multiple projects in the pipeline, including Manu Ashokan’s Uyare, Salim Ahamed’s And The Oscar Goes To, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Lucifer, Aashiq Abu’s Virus, Minnal Murali directed by Basil Joseph, Praveen Prabharam’s Kalki and Kilometers and Kilometers with Jeo Baby. Of this, And The Oscar Goes To and Lucifer have reached the post production mode.
Tovino is currently shooting for Uyare, which is directed by Manu Ashokan, an erstwhile associate of late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai. The film is bankrolled by Shegna, Sherga and Shenuga, the daughters of producer PV Gangadharan, under the banner Grihalakshmi Films. The music for Uyare is composed by Gopi Sunder, and Mahesh Narayan is in charge at the editing table. Director Manu’s wife Shreya is the film’s costume designer.
Tovino had a busy last year too, five Malayalam films with him in the lead coming out, apart from the smaller roles he played in movies like Aami and Maari 2.
