Kannada movie Kavaludaari hit the marquee on April 12 and is doing very well at the theatres. According to trade reports, this edge-of-the-seat thriller has gained the attention of film buffs and critics alike, and its box office collections are soaring.

Written and directed by Hemanth M Rao, Kavaludaari is bankrolled by Puneeth Rajkumar’s wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under the banner PRK Productions. This is the director’s second film after the massive success of Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu.

Kavaludaari’s star cast includes Anant Nag, Rishi, Suman Ranganathan, Achyuth Kumar, Roshni Prakash, Siddharth Maadhyamika and Siri Ravikumar. While Anant Nag is seen as a retired police inspector, Rishi plays a sub-inspector in the movie. Charan Raj is the music composer of this flick and Advaitha Gurumurthy is the cinematographer.

Set in the 1970s, Kavaludaari is an investigative neo-noir film that is about a couple who were involved in a crime, the impact of which is felt even today. Speaking about it, Hemanth M Rao was quoted by the Times of India as stating, “Mr and Mrs Naidu’s story is set in the 70s. Mr Naidu works for the government. They are involved in a crime where the repercussions are felt to this date. This is the case that is being investigated by the characters essayed by Rishi and Ananth (Nag) sir. We wanted to create an authentic look and flavour of that era, for which we scoured through many of the team’s family albums to understand the dressing and fashion styles. Our stylists Indira and Vinaya got the styling to the T, while Siddharth even put on weight to look his part.”

With Hemanth Rao’s second film also turning out to be hit, his fans are waiting for a hat trick from him.
