BJP lost to NOTA: Meme army has field day over RK Nagar results

Even as the RK Nagar results were being announced, the TN meme army was at it, taking digs at the AIADMK and the BJP.

The biggest favorite for meme makers seemed to be TTV Dhinakaran's pressure cooker symbol. The cooker made an appearance many times, with other leaders being cooked or blown away by the whistle.

On social media and even on TV channels, a contest that was being closely watched was who would get more votes, national party BJP or NOTA. As the two kept battling during each round of counting, the memes started trickling in more.

One meme even congratulated Gangai Amaran, the BJP candidate in the cancelled RK Nagar elections in April, for having kept away from the contest this time. The BJP lost their deposit money in the polls.

There was even a reference to Baahubali projecting the previous RK Nagar MLA and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as rescuing TTV Dhinakaran from drowning, indicating perhaps that he was her political heir.

Using the infamous image of Sasikala taking a vow at Jayalalithaa’s grave, the meme army projected it as Sasikala slapping the EPS-OPS faction.

Memes also took a dig at the BJP and said Tamil NAdu was not ready to welcome the communal politics of the saffron party.

And of course there had to be a reference to Premam, a movie that has captured hearts in Tamil Nadu. It shows the hilarious rehearsal scene where Malar miss is teaching the students to dance. OPS-EPS are shown to be the professors with two left feet.
