Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who's facing a fresh controversy after solar scam accused Biju Radhakrishnan alleged that the former received sexual favours in the scam, has hit back against the allegations levelled against him.
On Thursday, while speaking in the Kerala Assembly, Chandy refuted the accusations made Biju.
Here is his full reply.
"Today, Biju Radhakrishnan has made a revelation that he had never said before. He is an accused in 58 cases including a murder case. He was produced before several courts from Kasargod in the north to Thiruvananthapuram in the southernmost part of Kerala. In all these appearances he never bothered to say anything like this. He had interacted with the media on several occasions and had several visitors in jail. But he never said anything of this sort to any one of them.
On 28 June 2014, when he was produced before the Solar Commission for the first time, he told the Commission that he had some evidence, which he would present soon. That was a hint. An invitation for someone interested to approach him. Later he was produced on 17 November 2015 for recording his statement. On that day he said that he was in a state of mental conflict and that he was not in a position to give any statement.
Further, he said that if he would disclose certain things that would result in the resignation of Chief Minister and his colleagues. This had a tone of threat.
Who is this Biju Radhakrishnan? He is an accused in several cases. He is now serving sentence for murdering his wife. All the claims that he had made are there in the court verdict. His claims were that he was an IPS officer of 1996 batch and appointed as ASP at Nadapuram and that he had a PhD in Solar energy from London and was economic advisor to Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. This statement has been made by a person of such stature. To whom all against had he made allegations? Against the DySP who investigated the murder case. It was 498 A (dowry torture) during LDF Government's time. After coming to power, this government investigated the case with all evidences and proved that it was a murder. It was that investigating officer against whom he made the allegation. Then he made allegations against the Public Prosecutor of that case and even did not spare the judge who sentenced him life imprisonment. He did the same against all whom he disliked.
You know why he is upset with me? He would naturally have resentment as he was arrested and punished. He was a person who got bail in a case registered as per 498 A and continued with his fraud dealings.
My meeting with Biju Radhakrishnan found a mention here. He was not Biju Radhakrishnan then. He was Dr. R.B. Nair. He said he was the technical adviser or so to Narendra Modi and then he joined for IAS coaching in Civil Service Academy here. He even does not have a degree. Sri M I Shanavas MP called me and said, “He is the MD of a Company. Please give an appointment to meet you.” I told him that I would be at Ernakulam and could meet. We met and had a discussion. But the demand was that I disclose the details of that discussion. It was a matter that was very private and my culture prevented me from divulging that. Now I have been accused and still being asked to divulge the details of that discussion. But I will not. Luckily, for me, another person came along with Biju Radhakrishnan. I did not know who he was. When it became a controversy, then only I came to know about that person. He was Mr Sivadasan, an employee of Mathrubhumi news daily. He had given his statement regarding that meeting before the Commission. But I will never disclose those details that Mr R B Nair had discussed with me.
When this solar case came up the matter that was discussed widely was my letter pad. My letter pad was forged. None of you believed me then. Police registered a case and raided the institution that forged my letter pad and arrested the person behind it. Case was registered with Biju Radhakrishnan as the accused and was sentenced for six years. It is in that case that the details of Biju Radhakrishnan’s masquerade have been mentioned. I can give a copy of the same to you. When you are saying that Biju Radhakrishnan was flourishing like this, you should remember that he didn’t get any letter pad from my office. It was then he made the attempt to forge one. If he was so acquainted to me, then there was no need for him to seek the help of Mr M I Shanavas to get an appointment of mine. Aren’t these enough to reveal his true intentions? Even for an appointment Biju Radhakrishnan sought the help of others. He also forged a letter pad. On 28-06-2014 he said that he has enough evidence with him, but did not bother to reveal them till this time. It was when the commission told him that he will never get another chance to give statement that he came up with such disclosures.
You should understand the circumstances associated. I take pride in bringing a person before the law, who in fact after murdering his wife was roaming scot-free. But I have no regrets in paying a heavy price like this. He tried his best to blackmail me but I didn’t yield. I am a believer in God and when I do the right things I will be rewarded accordingly, and I will pay for the mistake I commit.
